Ultima VIII...for free...why are you still here...

While it definitely had it's share of criticism and troubles when it came out, I actually enjoyed Ultima VIII very much.  It was completely different from every other Ultima before it (yet still had that Avatar-y feel), but I thought it had some really good ideas, a great story, and a damn good soundtrack.  Origin is offering it free right now through it's game download client.  The Origin client isn't Steam quality, but they do give out some great free games every month or two, and the account is free.

Celebrate Star Wars!

Today we celebrate the release of the 2nd teaser trailer for The Force Awakens! (HOLY SH#$%T!)  I know not everyone is crazy about Star Wars, but I am, and I know I'm not alone. Here's some awesome Star Wars gear and old school games to satiate you till Star Wars Day (May the 4th!) and hopefully till December 18th (the now holiest of holy days).

Amazon has a ridiculous amount of Star Wars stuff on sale from now till May 4th, adding new items all the time.

If you've been living under the rock or are a Star Trek purist-heathen, then you should already know Star Wars has finally been released in HD as digital copies. The future is now!

FREE GAMES!
The original  Star Wars Arcade Game, available at abandonia for free download.  The ultimate in Star Wars fan nostalgia.

Much less well known, but a fun little game called Star Wars Chess.   I played the hell out of a game called Battle Chess, which was very similar, without the SW theme.  I wish I had known about this.  Also free at abandonia.

Remastered Classic Games!
Being a huge Star Wars fan, these three games had the biggest awe factor when they came out.  There simply wasn't anything like them at the time.  It didn't matter that they were all space simulators.  Playing a Rebel in X-Wing and then turning right around and flying in a TIE Fighter was a drastically different experience.  These games should not be passed up at GOG.
