Retro DOS Review: Great Games to Kill Time

Mobile games have become a huge part of the game market nowadays. While there are some that I feel are great games, many I've found are hopelessly shallow, masked by kitschy cartoon graphics and never-ending goals. Here's a couple titles that I sunk hundreds of hours into as a kid that I feel are still better time wasters than some of the social site and mobile games out there now.

DEATH RALLY
Awesome game. Take control of a motorized killing machine and race to the finish or the death. Earn cash and move up on the ladder by competing in races, then use the money to buy better cars, upgrade different parts, buy extra firepower and rocket boosters, or sabotage your enemie's cars. Get bonus cash for eliminating all your enemies, getting win streaks, or playing hitman for anyone that'll pay. Simple concept, loads of fun.

Destruction Derby
I swear I didn't plan on just racing games. Destruction Derby is another great game with a simple goal. Race your car, and smash the other ones. Instead of trying to finish in first place, you get points for ramming and sending other cars into a spin. It only has a couple racetracks, but it's enough to get your jollies from causing destruction.

Download it HERE and add it to your D-Fend.

Omni-Play Basketball (Magic Johnson's MVP)
I won't lie. I'm not a sports game fan, or sports fan, for that matter. However, there have been a choice few sports games I spent a decent amount of time with. No, they are not anything like the fancy, ultra-realistic, you-can-do-96-different-moves-with-just-the-controller kind of sports game of today. Omni-play Basketball is very simple, but pretty darn fun to kill a little time with. One button (Enter) does everything. By everything I mean pass, throw, steal, and jump. That's it. It goes a little in-depth with the team management part of it, letting you tell the computer controlled players how to react to the game, and allowing you to train your players during the off season.

Download it HERE. Use D-Fend and when the box comes up to confirm, change the drop box on the right side to "PLAY.COM" for it to load correctly.
