Mini-review! Street Rod 2 is more of a casual game with some replay value so no need to wait till next week.

Retro DOS Review: Conquests of the Longbow, The Legend of Robin Hood!

Conquests of the Longbow: The Legend of Robin Hood (from now on known as CLLRH) was a title I missed out on when I was little, but after playing it through, I feel it was probably better that way.

Retro DOS Review: Space Quest, The Sarien Encounter!

Several hours, a couple Coke Zeroes, and roughly 75 deaths later I have finished Space Quest 1! Replaying it 25 years later, I still find it's sarcastic humor just as funny as I did when I was 5. Space Quest 1 is the beginning of the saga of Roger Wilco, space janitor, and eventually multi-time savior of the galaxies. All of the Space Quest games heavily parody Star Wars, Star Trek, and all kinds of other pop culture references.

Tutorial: Obtaining and Playing DOS Games

Playing DOS games is easier than ever with the release of a program called D-Fend Reloaded.

Coming Soon: Space Quest!

First full review coming soon! Space Quest was one of the first and best adventure/RPG games I remember playing.  Does it have an epic story line to today's standards?  No.  Does it have super high res graphics? No.  What does it have?  16 colors, one 2D spaceman, an alien Blues Brothers band, and a couple hundred ways to die.  Check back soon!

The bottom of the page!

Hello, internets!

I'm starting RetroArcanum purely as a hobbyist and a fan. I'm excited to share what got me hooked on gaming in general when I was a kid, and some of the more interesting things that are out there now.

Expect a weekly post about my favorite DOS games, and how to obtain and play these games now. I'll also be reviewing some of my favorite board and card games, PC game Mods, and other cool gaming projects.

Feel free to comment and suggest games I should play too! Check back often and happy gaming.
